Yuantuo Quench & Temper Line for Steel Pipes

Yuantuo’s induction quench-and-temper line is engineered for high-strength steel pipes across multiple production routes—cold-rolled, cold-drawn, hot-rolled/hot-drawn and welded. Medium-frequency inductors bring pipes to austenitizing temperature rapidly and uniformly; PLC + infrared closed-loop control holds quench and temper setpoints; and a robust handling layout maintains pitch and straightness—supporting demanding targets for tensile/yield strength with repeatable throughput.

Description

Yuantuo’s quench-and-temper line is engineered to meet high-strength requirements across a wide range of pipe specifications. It supports cold-rolled, cold-drawn, hot-rolled/hot-drawn, and welded pipe production routes, delivering precise quenching and tempering for multiple steel grades.

Technical Requirements

1) Product Scope
  • Applicable pipe types: Cold-rolled, cold-drawn, hot-rolled/hot-drawn, and welded pipes
  • Typical sizes (example): Pipe size 40×15 mm; length 5,000–6,000 mm; wall thickness 1.1–2.0 mm
  • Materials: Carbon steels and alloy steels (broad coverage)
2) Target Properties
  • Straightness deviation: ≤ 2–3 ‰
  • Ultimate tensile strength (UTS): ≥ 1,500 MPa
  • Yield strength (YS): ≥ 1,300 MPa
  • Decarburized layer: ≤ 0.15 mm
  • Throughput: 400–500 kg/h
3) Process Route

Storage → Loading → Furnace Entry → Induction Heating → Quench Cooling → Pre-Tempering → Unloading → Finished-Goods Storage

Operating Workflow & Features

Storage System

Pipe bundles are staged on a 6 m storage rack with timed feed. Automatic (or semi-automatic) alignment ensures smooth transfer into the loading system.

Loading & Conveyance

A high-efficiency loader feeds pipes to the heating furnace on the set takt. “Chase feed” logic before furnace entry maintains proper pitch for uniform heating.

Heating Zone

High-efficiency inductors with quick-change design accommodate different pipe sizes. Driven hold-down/top rollers at the furnace entry stabilize feeding and improve heating uniformity.

Quench Cooling

Rapid cooling in a quench tank; water temperature, pressure, and flow are monitored in real time. Integrated level monitoring protects surface quality and process stability.

Tempering Section

Adjustable tempering temperature with continuous monitoring ensures stable setpoints. After tempering, pipes automatically transfer to a controlled cooling section.

Discharge System

Guided outfeed roller tables deliver stable discharge and protect straightness.

Equipment Configuration & Selection

Induction Power Supplies: Power and frequency selected to suit pipe diameter, wall thickness, and grade—ensuring uniform austenitizing.

Induction Furnace Body: Engineered to pipe size/material for high-efficiency heating and rapid changeovers.

Cooling System: 304 stainless-steel quench tanks and spray assemblies maintain stable quench temperature/flow to avoid soft spots.

PLC Control: Siemens PLC with real-time monitoring and closed-loop adjustment of critical parameters for smooth, reliable operation.

Temperature Monitoring: Each heating power module is paired with an IR pyrometer for real-time temperature display and consistency control.

By combining advanced induction heating with intelligent automation, Yuantuo’s Steel Pipe Quench & Temper Line delivers an efficient, stable, and repeatable heat-treatment solution that helps you hit demanding strength targets with reliable throughput.
