How to Define the Equipment Scope of a Tubing and Casing Heat Treatment Line

A quotation for an OCTG heat treatment line is meaningful only when its supply scope is clear.

One proposal may cover heating and quenching equipment, while another includes handling, cooling systems and control integration. Comparing totals without checking these boundaries can lead to an incomplete project budget.

Identify the Product and Process

Specify whether the project handles tubing, casing or another pipe product. Provide dimensions, steel grades, incoming condition and the applicable product requirements.

The required process route must be established before the equipment list is finalised.

Separate the Main Sections

Review the scope of loading, transport, heating for quenching, quench equipment, tempering, final cooling and unloading.

Where end geometry differs from the pipe body, describe those features so their influence can be evaluated.

Define Supporting Systems

Clarify responsibility for cooling water, filtration, heat rejection, electrical distribution and connections to existing equipment.

Inspection equipment should also be addressed. Online temperature recording is different from final mechanical testing or nondestructive inspection.

Agree on Interfaces

The proposal should identify who supplies each section, who connects it and who verifies integrated operation.

A tubing and casing quenching and tempering line may involve several systems whose responsibilities need to be coordinated.
